The
Kingdom of Kemedal (Brenhiniaeth y Cymoedd,
litt. 'Kingdom of the Valleys') is a country located in
the north-western part of the continent of Eras. It is
bordered by the North Gronkian Sea to the north, the People's
Republic of Gronk (Gweriniaeth Pobl Gronc) to the east,
Zentralsk (Y Canolbarth Oerdd) to the south-east, Albion-Merité
(Y Feirth) to the south, and the Bay of
Merité (Y Bae'r Feirth) to the west. Kemedal has an estimated
population of 84 million and is officially bilingual,
with both Kemese (Cwmeg) and Ingallish having
equal status; in practice however, Ingallish serves as
an administrative language only and is not actively
mastered by the entire population.
Geography
Bordering the Bay of Merité in the west, Kemedal's western
and centre regions are flat and hilly, while higher altitudes
can be found in the north and especially in the south-eastern
part of the country, the latter of which is the northern tip
of the Yokes mountain range (Iwychod), which extends
into Albion-Merité and Zentralsk. Most of Kemedal is covered
either by forests or grassland, which in earlier times
provided Kemedal with its means to survice. Located
around the city of Bala are the Great Lakes (Llynoedd
Mawr), the larger of which is shared with
Albion-Merité.
The most prominent river of Kemedal is the river Sioned,
which originates in the Yokes Mountains, flows through the
centre of the country in northwestern direction, and falls
in to the Bay of Merité at Porthlong Danfor. More to the east
run the river Toes and its tributary river Fford, also in
northwestern direction but falling in the Northern Gronkian
Sea at Pontardoes. In the southeast, the river Elynor partially
forms the border between Kemedal and Zentralsk and the People's
Republic of Gronk.
Political situation
Kemedal and Ansonia were independent kingdoms from 302 to 322.
In 322 the two nations merged into one. The nominal head of state
is a Royal Council consisting of the former heads of state of
Kemedal and Ansonia, while political power lies with the government,
headed by a Prime Minister. |
