Kingdom of Wyster • Threben sie Wysthyr

POLITICS

The government of Wyster (irhith) is appointed by parliament, although the king usually nominates the candidate Prime Minister, who discusses the composition of the government with the political party or parties that represent a parliamentary majority. The last elections in 2017 and 2021 were won by the Fortress Party (DW, Dyrt Warh).

Legislative
The Higurstat Baan ('Assembly of the Realm') consists of a first (permanent) chamber, the Uth Binder or 'General Court', which consists of 671 members who are elected every four years through a first-past-the-post system, and a second chamber, the Uth Peg or 'High Court', which consists of 199 members and convenes only when summoned by either the king, by 6/7 of the members of the Uth Binder, or 42,000 citizens (or a combination of these three) to discuss special subjects.

Political parties
Dyrt Bleugh ('People's Party', conservative), Dyrt Warh ('Fortress Party', progressive). There are other, smaller parties that rarely get more than 60 seats.

Membership international organisations
Wyster is a member of the Assembly of Nations.

Judiciary
Judicial power in Wyster is executed by judges, who are appointed by the Farseucstat Threh sie Arstat ('Royal Committee of Law'), which consists of 33 legal experts nominated by the Uth Binder and appointed by the King for 7 year terms. Judges are appointed for 4 to 7 year terms, except for the 13 judges of the Uth Threh Peg ('Royal High Court', the constitutional court), who are appointed for life. There are courts that have general responsibilities and those that deal with specific legal matters. The Munustyren se Affyr Thortes ('Ministry of Public Affairs') is the independent state authority that is responsible for the prosecution of cases brought against people or institutions who are suspected of committing criminal offenses.

Military
The Ivyrstathe Ghievawynne Wiesse ('Wystrian Armed Forces', IGW) provide military defence independently or within international alliances according to international agreements. Conscription has existed since 1930, but has not been actively implemented since 1996, making the IGW in practice a professional standing army. The Commander-in-Chief is the King (in practise represented by the Minister of Defence) while operational command falls under the responsibility of the Joint Chiefs of the General Staff of the IGW.
