PARTIJ VOOR
GELIJKHEID (PvG)
The Party for Equality ('Partij voor Gelijkheid' in
Dutch)
is a progressive liberal political party in Kronenburg.
In 1990 some
members on the left side of the old liberal party in
Kronenburg, the
LKP, left
that party to form a new liberal party. Quickly becoming
popular, the party was invited to a coalition
government
for the first time in 2000 in the government of
Johan Achterberg,
that consisted of
PSV, PvG and
DPG. After the fall of this government, the PvG
continued to be part of governments under
Sonja Brahms
and then
Ernst-Piter Strikwerda.
Since the
elections of
2007, the PvG has been larger than the LKP from which it
originally separated; in the elections of March 2011, the
PvG became the largest party of the
Noordkamer,
after which it formed a coalition government with the
leftist party
ROOS!.
Hans Dankert
became the first
prime minister
from PvG origin.
Political
leaders of the PvG:
Bas de Ruijter (1990 - 2002)
Lex Filidór
(2002 - 2009)
Ewald de Haan de
Cronenburg (2009 - 2014)
Hans
Dankert (2014 - present)
