WESTERPOORT
 Westerpoort
is a new municipality that was separated from
Alexanderstad territory in 2016. It consists of the
former north-western part of Alexanderstad. Westerpoort is
located on the North Island and borders Alexanderstad
and
Oud-Kronenburg. The municipality is named after the
large triumphal arch 'Westerpoort'; the English name
'Westerport' is in fact derived from the Dutch name without
paying attention to its meaning, as 'West Gate' would be
more correct.
