The Lands of the Lady of Sarigis or Sarigis
for short is a de facto independent landlocked
nation in western central Smalik, bordering Kencari,
Nucani, Vaara, Bėltse, Three Cities and the Cove, Both
Watches, and The Lectern. The territory of Sarigis is
the personal property of the Gough family for the most
part; the towns and their surroundings were not, but
fell within the borders of Sarigis during the
desintegration of the Lectern of United Kencari Peoples
(LUKP) in 318.
The status of Sarigis is therefore
complicated: it considers itself an autonomous part of
the LUKP (as per an agreement that was struck with the
government of the LUKP), which however doesn't exist
anymore, but although The Lectern was considered to be
the legal successor of the LUKP until 322, Sarigis authorities
deny being part of The Lectern, and in return, no claims
to the territory of Sarigis were pronounced by
The Lectern. According to some, Sarigis is therefore a legal
remnant of the LUKP.
On 29 December 322 however, security forces
of Sarigis entered The Lectern proper and ousted the
government, bringing The Lectern under control of the
Lady of Sarigis. The merger was made official on 1
January 324.
Geography and climate
Until 323, Sarigis was a landlocked territory that was de iure
part of The Lectern. After Sarigis's security forces ended the
government of The Lectern and took control of the latter's territory,
Sarigis gained a sea exit, although it will take a lot of effort to
restore the ruined harbours of Sky City in the next decade.
Sarigis is located on the west side of the Strywak Mountain Range.
The highest mountain is the Saza of 3,445 m (11,302.49 ft).
Three main riviers flow westwards to the Cislendian Ocean: in the
north, Lake Broca, which Sarigis shares with Kencari, forms the source
of the Broca river, which flows through Sarigis City and is a
tributary of the Wernica, which originates in Kencari and ends up in
Sky City before falling in the Cislendian Ocean.
Sarigis's longest river is the Corris, which is however shared with
Both Watches, where it flows through the city of Sarimiow before
returning to Sarigis; via Sarissest and Sky City, it ends in the
Cislendian Ocean.
The country's southernmost large river is the Tamurin, which passes
south of the town of Biräc before leaving the country and continuing
in Both Watches, where it passes through South Watch before ending
up in the Cislendian Ocean.

Politics
Emma Gough serves as head of state and government, de facto of
the territory serving as a de facto nation, since
16-20 November 318; her claim to be the rightful Lady of
Sarigis since the death of her father Andrew Gough, 5th
Lord Sarigis, on 4 November 316, is disputed as some
claim that the title can only be inherited by men.
Without any male heirs however, there have been no
other claimants to the title, so Emma Gough's claim
runs unopposed.
Executive
On 30 June 324, about half a year after Sarigis annexed The Lectern,
democratic elections were held for a 72-member parliament, a condition
set by representatives of The Lectern to ensure a peaceful integration
of the latter into Sarigis.
For parliamentary elections, the country is divided in three Districts:
Sarigis North (37 seats), Sarigis South (25 seats), and Sky City (10
seats). Despite the fact that Sky City is the most populous of the three,
Emma Gough refused to give it too much power straight away. Within the
Districts, the seats are divided proportionally, but if nationally, no
party receives at least half of the seats (36 + 1), the party with the
fewest seats is eliminated in all three Districts and its seats (if any)
redistributed as remainder seats. This process is repeated until one of
the parties has obtained 37 seats or more.
